Compliance with environmental laws and regulations

In order to effectively comply with environmental laws, LG Display has a strict management and supervision system to prevent violations of environmental laws and regulations by recruiting technical experts in each field, and installing and operating various types of environmental pollution prevention facilities to handle environmental pollutants in accordance with laws and regulations. LG Display formed a self-diagnosis group to manage compliance risks related to environment and periodically inspects compliance with laws and regulations by domestic and foreign corporations and risks.

Reduction of pollutant emissions

LG Display has set and managed strict standards at the level of 70% of the legal standard to minimize the environmental impact of local communities due to air and water pollutant emissions. To achieve this standard, we have installed and operated optimal environmental pollution prevention facilities. Especially, LG Display has installed and is operating additional spare facilities in all prevention facilities to properly handle pollutants in the event of a failure of the prevention facilities. In addition to the establishment and operation of a real-time pollutant emission measurement system, portable measurement equipment is also available. Also, LG Display manages to immediately stop discharging and report potential accidents to the agency stipulated by laws and regulations in case of emergency, such as the discharge of pollutants exceeding legal standards due to sudden breakdown of prevention facilities or fire and explosion and makes great efforts to manage pollutants while establishing and operating countermeasures such as cause analysis and corrective measures.

Chemical management system

LG Display examines the legality of related laws and compliance with in-house standards through a pre-screening system for all chemical substances delivered to the company and overseas subsidiaries, and prohibits the purchase of products that do not meet the screening standards. Also, LG Display protects the health of its employees by designating prohibited substances (739 types) and establishing principles for the development and management of alternative substances such as tracking usage and conducting on-site inspections.
In order to prevent accidents caused by chemical substances and to reinforce training, LG Display provides employees with access to the latest Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemical substances at any time to share chemical information, and manages training for chemical handlers through an in-house training system. Externally, LG Display makes every effort to prevent chemical accidents by periodically sharing the prevention and response plans for chemical accidents with relevant organizations, nearby residents, and workplaces.
